Nos Cambió La Vida is a digital edition of short autobiographical narratives written by Dominican writers of Haitian descent that have been translated into English. These stories were originally compiled into a book in 2017 and published in the Dominican Republic after a series of workshops for participating writers to share and work through their life stories. Collectively these stories illustrate the various impacts, personal and systemic, that White Supremacy has had on their lives on the island and beyond. May these stories reach far and touch as many lives as possible.

Sharing and Use of this Work

It is our intent that the English edition of Nos Cambió La Vida [Our Lives Transformed] will travel widely as a resource for education, community organizing, and independent study, to increase awareness about the ongoing crisis of statelessness for Dominicans of Haitian descent. While distributing and sharing the authors’ narratives is a primary goal of this project, copyright for all editions of this text remains with the original authors, who have authorized this translation.

When downloading, linking to, and sharing any portion of these stories, we ask that you: (1) provide attribution to the original authors of each individual essay; (2) refrain from using the work for any commercial purpose; (3) seek explicit consent from the original authors before producing any adaptations or creative works based on these stories.

Nos Cambió La Vida es una edición digital de breves narrativas autobiográficas escritas por escritores dominicanos de ascendencia haitiana que han sido traducidas al inglés. Estas historias se compilaron originalmente en un libro en 2017 y se publicaron en la República Dominicana después de una serie de talleres para que los escritores participantes compartieran y trabajaran a través de sus historias de vida. En conjunto, estas historias ilustran los diversos impactos, personales y sistémicos, que la supremacía blanca ha tenido en sus vidas en la isla y más allá. Que estas historias lleguen lejos y toquen tantas vidas como sea posible.

Compartir y usar este trabajo

Es nuestra intención que la edición en inglés de Nos Cambió La Vida viaje ampliamente como un recurso para la educación, la organización comunitaria y el estudio independiente, para aumentar la conciencia sobre la actual crisis de apatridia para los Dominicanos de ascendencia Haitiana. Si bien la distribución y el intercambio de las narrativas de los autores es un objetivo principal de este proyecto, los derechos de autor de todas las ediciones de este texto permanecen en los autores originales, que han autorizado esta traducción.
